The 2017 Essere Franco Estate Sauvignon blanc has aromas of citrus, guava, and white flower with a nice subtle hint of light toast. The palate is fresh and vibrant with lemon grass and citrus flavors that propels the wine into a good, clean finish. This wine would complement a wide range of foods like fish, Chinese, or light pasta dishes.
Cheers and enjoy! Tom Foster, Winemaker.
The 2017 Vintage & Vineyards
In the beginning the main event associated with the 2017 growing season for the Napa Valley would be rain. Lots of rain in the spring. Bud break was slightly delayed; but we had steady flowering and an even fruit set. We had a nice stretch of warm days and cool foggy nights. Late August and Early September we were hit with a few heat waves. Mid-September temperate temperatures returned allowing the grapes to develop gradually – until October 8th when the wild fires raged through parts of Sonoma and Napa Valley. Chaos ensued and those not directly displaced by the fires were asking our neighbors what we could do to help. We came together as a community to assist and recover. Harvest restarted October 23rd but it was apparent that any fruit that was still on the vine after 10/8 was compromised.
