The inaugural release of our 2016 Essere Franco Essere Mi! At the blending table we had a few extra barrels of Malbec, Cabernet, and Petit Verdot after making our Essere Franco wines and asked ourselves what about making a blend. We poured them all together and were pleasantly surprised on the wine in our glasses. Shaun and I both jumped up and said we had to make this wine! Essere Mi was born.
This wine has aromas of dark currants, blackberries, and dark chocolate with swaths of toast and vanilla. The palate is loaded with dark, black fruits with swirls of dark, creamy chocolate that creates a long and lasting finish. This wine would complement a wide range of foods however anything skewered would be on the forefront of my mind.
Cheers and enjoy! Tom Foster, Winemaker.
The 2016 Vintage & Vineyards
The main accolade associated with the 2016 growing season and harvest for the Napa Valley would be mellow. Near-ideal spring bud break, steady flowering, an even fruit set, and a steady stretch of warm days and cool foggy nights of the Summer and Fall where for the most part temperate temperatures dominated.
